Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?! (Japanese: 私、能力は平均値でって言ったよね! Hepburn: Watashi, Nōryoku wa Heikinchi de tte Itta yo ne!) is a Japanese light novel series written by FUNA and illustrated by Itsuki Akata. A manga adaptation by Neko Mint began serialization in 2016. Both the light novel and manga have been licensed in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment. An anime television series adaptation is scheduled to premiere in October 2019.
Plot[]
Misato Kurihara is a genius. That's what she had been told ever since her exceptional abilities began sprouting. Expectation upon expectation was laid on her back. One day in the eighteenth year of her life after leaving school following her graduation ceremony, an inattentive driver drove directly into the path of a young girl. Without thinking, Misato leaped into the street, protecting the girl at the cost of her own life. Upon awakening, she meets God, the Creator, who explains to her that the girl she had saved would lead a life of high fame. Satisfied, Misato, when given the opportunity to reincarnate, begged God to make her abilities average. In her new world, she was indeed average, that is until her memories of her previous life returned completely. God's calculations of the "average" were far from normal, making Misato (now Adele von Ascham, the daughter of a viscount), stand exactly halfway between the two extremes of the absolute weakest and the absolute strongest. Following this revelation, Adele vows to live her life as normally and as averagely as possible in this new world.
